Hello Readers,
This hostel is the first hostel that I have been to. And let me tell you that I have since fallen in love with the whole bedroom sharing concept, mind you, I really take my personal space seriously.
But after several considerations, I realized that with the budget I had, I couldn’t really afford space luxury.
So I searched and searched and I finally found the perfect hostel for me. Here’s why…
I booked this hostel through Traveloka for 3 days 2 nights with a total of RM74.70.
Personal Review:
Safety / Security – 4.5/5 stars
So, I went with 6 beds female room. As this is all female room, I think this speaks volume on the safety of solo female travelers out there.
You will receive a card that can open your assigned room and your movement of the in and out of the hostel. Well, the function is fairly similar to any usual hotel room. Which is pretty dope. You will also be given a locker key for your lockers at the bottom of each bunk beds. However, I had difficulties with mine as it was not working so I asked the receptionist if it is okay to change my locker and she agreed with it. I was happy with the service, so I am not going to take a star off of this.
The reason I had to take 0.5 star out of my review is because of the shared bathroom among the male and female traveler. Although, this is fairly common with hostels all around the world, I still think that it is a bit risky for this implementation. I can’t deny that I feel safe throughout my journey and trust me when I say that I do not want to take out any stars out of this hostel but out of being fair to the subject, I have to.
Cleanliness – 5/5 stars
I can’t say much for others but I found this place really clean.
Fresh bed sheets, a comforter, and fresh towel. Even the room and bathroom smelled nice. The hallway was also thoroughly cleaned. So, full five fat stars for Nomaps!
Service – 4.7/5 stars
What can I say about this… They provide wifi, washing machine, and breakfast. There are no ridiculous rule about the “6pm-9am air-con rule”. I think most of you knows what I’m talking about.
What I really want to highlight is the breakfast variety. They provide different type of cereals, jams (raspberry, strawberry, pineapple) peanut butter, milks (chocolate, strawberry, full, lactose-free, soy) and sliced bread. I mean, FOR BREAKFAST! I love breakfast so much, I even ate it for dinner.
Washing Machine needs to be paid upfront (RM 10 per wash), and closes off at midnight. I do think this is normal. And the receptionist were very helpful. They also distributed a pamphlet during check in that contained a list of places that people should visit in Melaka.
Location – 5/5 stars
The best part of this hostel is the strategic location near all the attractions in Melaka. You can exit through the back door and you will instantly be greeted by Melaka’s little art shops lined up and the hostel itself is located 5 minutes walk from Jonker Street. There are coffee shops nearby if you decide to stop for coffee breaks. Trust me, you won’t get enough of it.
Comfort – 2.5/5 stars
Again, this is only based on my experience. I’m pretty sure that other people would be comfortable on their stay. But, this doesn’t apply to me on my first day here.
There were a group of people staying there who were partying on the upper floor until 3 in the morning and the only downside to it is that they were being too loud and the floor was thumping really bad and since I was placed on the top bunk bed, I could only imagine that I would be found dead in the morning due to the fall of the ceiling.
It was a scary thought, I admit that.
But the floor was made of wood so the creaking sound tends to be 10 times worse-r than that of a normal floor. It is a shame though, because apart from this incident, everything else were working so well, I have never felt more comfortable anywhere else. I would give “comfort” 4.5 stars if it was not for a fact that other factor was involved.
Decor – 4.6/5 stars
It is safe to say that I love the decor of this hostel. I think it is a very instagrammable spot, especially when there was a corner in the hallway, roofless and was decorated with plants and wall murals and woody benches and table. A perfect hideout from the bustling market and it is definitely a spot for me to write and find inspirations.
What can I say, I am a sucker for aesthetics.
Overall: 4.38 out of 5 stars.
